Membership Survey Results!

Last spring we asked you, our members, for help in evaluating programs, benefits, and membership opportunities at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center. And we heard from LOTS of you—20% of you responded to the membership survey—an outstanding response rate for any survey. THANK YOU.

Here is some of what we learned:

  • Who are our members?
You represent the community — families, seniors, individuals, students. You come to the Seymour Center for exhibits and programs, and you value your membership.
  • Why are you members?
70% rated support for programs and exhibits or had a general interest in ocean science and conservation. Only 20% of you listed “benefits” as your number one reason for being a member.
  • What do you attend?
Jingle Shells Art & Craft Festival, Frans Lanting and other lectures and presentations, Whale of an Auction, school programs, and Ocean Explorers ranked highest but every event and lecture was valued. And you liked what you saw.
  • Where do you get your information?
76% learn about our programs and events in our newsletter Discovery but a large group of you wanted to hear from us via email.

Click here to take a look at the survey results.

As we move forward, we are taking your comments and suggestions to heart. We are grateful for your gracious support, kind words, and, most importantly, your passionate interest in marine science education and conservation.
